Resources for Military Students
ECPI University Supports all Service Members through their Educational Journeys
If you want to see just how much ECPI University supports our military students, the resources are not difficult to find. From an entire section of the website dedicated to military students to the Virginia Beach Veteran's Center, which hosts a full-time VA representative to help military students enroll and be successful in college. Military students are part of ECPI University's culture and history.
Let's take a look at some of the resources, on and off campus, military students can expect when studying at ECPI University.
Hands-On Education: "Nihil Obstat (Nothing Stands in Our Way)" (557th Artillery Group Motto)
When military students look for schools, they might find themselves lost in the world of academia that requires long hours in a classroom discussing theories and writing endless papers. ECPI University attracts many former and current military students due to our hands-on learning style and commitment to practical education.
Granted, students still have to write papers and learn some theories. But with interactive labs and lots of projects, ECPI University's educational style closely resembles how personnel are taught in the military (but there isn't any drill-sergeant-style instruction).
Tuition Assistance: "Ad Excelsum Conamur (Strive for Excellence)" (12th Aviation Group Motto)
One of the biggest concerns when starting a college education is how to afford it. ECPI University is dedicated to helping military students utilize scholarships, the GI Bill ®, and other forms of assistance through the VA. ECPI University also accepts some credits earned through military programs on a case-by-case basis, which can be determined for each student during the admissions process.
Camaraderie: "Follow Me" (68th Bombardment Wing Motto)
Joseph L. Erskine, a Navy veteran and a graduate of ECPI University, talked about one of the many things he loved about ECPI University. He stated, “I feel the same camaraderie amongst our veterans as I did when I was serving. I love to be surrounded by people who love what they do.” Highlighting the importance of shared experience in and outside of the classroom, Erskine put into words what many of our veterans here feel while attending ECPI University.
Sometimes the resource you will need at school will be your classmates. With support from a thriving military community, including the Student Veterans Association, service members find themselves among their fellows in class and among the faculty and staff as well.
