Course Description: This course introduces the student to principles, theories and concepts of caring for children and their families in a multicultural society. Students will study the effects of acute and chronic illness on growth and development and family dynamics. A key focus of this course is on health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. Integrated throughout this course is an overview of the common standards of parent/child health goals. Elements of evidence based practice and available sources of informatics will be utilized in planning and implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care.
